Concussion Research Program 

 We are currently looking for individuals to participate in our research program: how to improve concussion recovery using wearable technology, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

If you or someone you know is eligible to participate  we would love your help in improving the recovery process for those suffering from concussions. For more information on the studies we are currently conducting and the eligibility criteria, read more here.

COVID-19 Notice

We are dedicated to the safety of our community. Therefore, we are taking extreme precautions while conducting our studies to ensure we are playing our part in reducing the spread of COVID-19, while also still providing a service to our community. For the time being, our studies have been adapted to be done remotely. The equipment used for the studies will be delivered to your home using contactless delivery. All equipment will be appropriately cleaned between uses, using recommendations from the Ontario Ministry of Health. Data collection sessions will be held virtually, with video conferencing with our researchers. If you have any questions about the virtual trials and their safety in regards to COVID-19, do not hesitate to contact us.

Current Studies

1) EEG markers of Cognitive Engagement in Concussion

Study Aim

The aim of this study is to use information from EEG recordings and self-report assessments of cognitive engagement to understand the changes in brain activity caused by concussion.

Study Procedure

Demographic data will be collected, including date of birth, sex, education level, health and mental health history, and questions regarding your concussion and symptoms.

EEG data will also be recorded while participants work through a series of cognitive tasks

*For the participant’s convenience, our research team will frequently ask if they would like a break or if they would like to end the study.  All information shared during the study are completely voluntary, and will be kept confidential.

What is the time commitment?

Participation in this study will be one testing session of approximately 60 minutes.

Am I eligible?

You are eligible to participate in this study if you:

  • Are between 14 – 60 years of age

  • Are 3 – 12 months post-concussion

  • Do not have any of the following conditions:

    • TBI, brain bleed, or brain trauma found on imaging in addition to concussion

    • Excessive drug or alcohol use

    • Dementia or other cognitive impairment
